      At Davines, we’ve always been committed to making beauty as sustainable as possible. That’s why we’re doing our best to protect, preserve and restore one of the planet’s most precious resources: water.  

      Tackling water scarcity and water pollution

      Water is one of our planet’s most precious resources, sustaining every kind of life. But it is increasingly vulnerable. Fresh water is being used faster than it can be replenished, and aquatic ecosystems are facing damage because of pollution. 

      Why it matters

      • Around half of the world’s population doesn’t have enough water for at least part of the year*
      • Chemical runoff from farming makes rivers, lakes and oceans uninhabitable for many species
      • Ocean acidification - caused by seawater absorbing excess CO2 - harms marine life

      Our actions and aims

      RESTORING MARINE ECOSYSTEM


      As well as reducing plastic use with eco-design principles, since 2021 we’ve partnered with organisations to support the collection of plastic waste from coastal areas. Our target is to collect 5,000 tonnes by 2030*, maintaining a 1:1 balance between what is used and collected.

      In 2025, this commitment resulted in the collection of 868.1 tonnes of plastic waste. 
      From 2021 to the end of 2025, we supported the collection of a total of 3,436.3 tonnes of plastic waste, moving closer to achieving our goal of collecting 5,000 tonnes by 2030. 


      REDUCING OUR WATER CONSUMPTION


      Around 90% of our production machinery is equipped with technology that recirculates water for cooling and heating to reduce waste. By 2030, we’re aiming to reduce total water consumptionat Davines Group Village by 50% compared to 2023 levels**. This is just one of the initiatives that contributes to water reduction. 


      SUPPORTING WATER EDUCATION


      We believe that you can only protect what you love, and you can only love what you truly know. This is why we are taking our first steps in water education. In 2026, the Ocean Keeper campaign will support educational initiatives organised by CleanHub.

      If plastic is a problem, why use it?

      Plastic pollution isn’t the only challenge facing our planet. We’re also doing our best to tackle climate change. Plastic allows for less material usage and less packaging weight, leading to significantly lower CO2eq emissions than other materials. Especially when plastic is recycled or bio-based. 


      What does eco-design mean?

      The term eco-design refers to a set of principles applied to packaging design and development, which reduces its environmental impact. Eco-design considers many aspects such as carbon emission, use of resources, pollution and more.
