Culture is an integral part of our identity, which is why we are proud to present From Chaos to Order, a piece by photographer Xavi Bou, supported by Davines and on display from March 6th to 9th at BASE Milano during the PhotoVogue Festival 2025.
This year, the festival explores the theme "The Tree of Life: A Love Letter to Nature", a visual journey celebrating the deep interconnection between humans, animals, and ecosystems through photography exhibitions, panel discussions, and digital showcases. A tribute to the beauty of nature and the importance of its protection—values deeply rooted in Davines’ philosophy.
The black-and-white triptych by Xavi Bou captures the extraordinary adaptability of Vaux’s swifts, migratory birds that once nested in the hollow trunks of trees. Due to deforestation, they have been forced to find shelter in urban structures, such as school chimneys. The title of the piece reflects their transformation: from an apparently chaotic flight to the perfect synchrony that allows them to enter the chimney in an orderly formation—from chaos to order.
Where the human eye perceives only disorder, nature reveals perfect balance. This idea serves as a powerful metaphor for the simplistic approach humanity has taken for centuries, often drastically disrupting the delicate equilibrium of the global ecosystem. But it is also a message of hope: collective intelligence is the key to navigating the profound changes of our time.
A collective approach and a deep understanding of ecosystem complexity have always been at the heart of Davines’ philosophy. We believe in community over individualism, in collaboration over competition.

With his ability to make the invisible visible through photography, Xavi Bou perfectly embodies this vision. His work, which has documented nature for years with both poetic and scientific sensitivity, naturally aligns with the journey Davines embarked on over forty years ago.
