Kinky hair: how to take care of it, from shampoo to styling

HAIR TUTORIAL

Curls and coils demand special attention. However,  by using the right products you can learn how to enhance volume, protect the texture and make them healthier!

Kinky hair means on the one hand a type of hair, curly and extremely dense; on the other, it means a peculiar way to style it, to respect and highlight its natural volume. We want to offer you some pro-tips to care for kinky hair at home, to keep it healthy and naturally beautiful.

Kinky hair: what is its structure and why is it delicate?

On a scale from 1 to 10 - where 1 is absolute straight hair and 10 is the most extreme curl – kinky hair stands between 8 and 10. Its structure is very peculiar and fragile:kinky hair is generally flat and it coils on itself in a very tight spiral, almost like a “Z”.

When frequently straightened – with chemical treatments or with hairdryers and hair straighteners – kinky hair runs the risk of being damaged and breaking up. When, however, it is left in its natural state, it tends to become frizzy and might lose texture, becoming even harder to untangle.

So, what can you do? First of all, you should learn to love its nature, rather than fight it, by choosing the right products for a restructuring and anti-frizzy routine.

Products for kinky hair: shampoo, conditioner and mask

For kinky hair we recommend the LOVE Curl shampoo or cleansing cream, that blends the benefits of washing with a soft conditioning effect. For more control and elasticity, apply the LOVE Curl mask, let it set for 10 minutes and rinse.

The whole LOVE Curl line boosts the almond extract, a natural active ingredient which can help hydrate the hair and fight the natural dryness of curls.
