Closer to hairdressers, closer to people
The first Davines collection by Tom Connell in his new role as Davines Hair Art Director.
When the camera objective unveils the deepest nature of every person, that image becomes a symbol of humanity by capturing the most intimate element. In this collection beauty reveals itself naturally and with authenticity. Tom Connell, new Davines Hair Art Director, has created a collection for those who wear it, giving them the freedom to express their personal identity.
I always keep a document with me to write down things that catch my attention: a haircut I saw on the street, a piece of furniture, a film clip. Once a month, I read it and see a connection between all the elements, and I develop my ideas from there.

A textured French bob shape refreshed with a line which shortens towards the face combined with a shallow Jane Birkin fringe that together provide the ultra blonde colour a natural, tousled canvas to sit on.
Looking at the way opposites can play visual tricks, the placement of the two complimentary colour tones that spiral around the head bring Bridget Riley’s abstract inspiration to real life in this look.
A disconnected cut with shorter lengths around the jaw combined with longer lengths through the back accentuated by the placement of colour, in particular with the movement given by the darker center parting.
Metà e Metà
The secret of this look is its simplicity, colours create a subtle and harmonious contrast throughout the length of hair in its natural fall.
A strong, yet balanced colour contrast. This structured shape has been created to give wearers several ways of shaping their look.
The colour inspiration comes from the surface of planet Mars. This look combines a soft haircut canvas with unusual yet complementary contrasting dusty tones of pink and red.
A short and Parisian flair look enables the colour to be the star. Steel grey is the shade chosen for this look, a colour that is immune to trends.
The styling enhances hair texture with a typically 80s’ haircut between golden tones and a dusty black.
This look has been created giving a further touch of interest and dimension to the natural dark colour unveiling blue tones that reflect in the natural light.
The Colour: inspired by designer Dieter Rams
Colour choices have also drawn inspiration from the philosophy of the famous designer Dieter Rams, founder of the principle according to which “having small touches of colour makes it more colourful”. The choice of applying colour with selective rigour has enabled Tom to create, for each look, shrouded visual levels that unveil at a second glance whilst resulting in absolute harmony. The tone on tone colour line by Davines, View, and the permanent colour line Mask with Vibrachrome have been used in synergy to create the collection looks, and give hair shine and body.
